Getting Started
Everything you need to know before your first session
Is therapy right for me?
Therapy can be helpful for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, work through a difficult period, or make meaningful changes in their life. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit.
- You're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck and aren't sure why
- You're dealing with depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
- You're navigating a major life transition — a new job, relationship change, loss, or move
- You're struggling with OCD, intrusive thoughts, or compulsive behaviors
- You've experienced trauma and want support processing it
- You want to understand your patterns and respond to life differently
How to get started
Reach out
Call, email, or use the contact form on this site to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can talk briefly about what's bringing you to therapy and whether we might be a good fit.
Schedule your first appointment
If we decide to move forward, we'll schedule your first session. I offer weekday early morning and evening appointments, as well as Saturday and Sunday morning sessions.
Complete intake paperwork
Before your first session, I'll send you intake forms to complete. These help me understand your background, current concerns, and goals before we meet.
Attend your first session
Your first session is an intake and assessment. We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together.
What to expect in your first session
The first session is an intake and assessment — it's a chance for me to get to know you and for you to get a sense of what working with me is like. There's no pressure to share everything at once.
We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, your personal and family history, and what you're hoping to change or achieve. By the end, we'll begin to identify your goals and discuss what a treatment plan might look like.
Most people find the first session feels more like a conversation than a formal evaluation. You're welcome to ask me questions too — finding the right fit matters.
